Well… Not all men are thugs… Some men actually rebuked the term. But, I digress from my point. Every man or group of men needs a lady to balance things out. No, I don’t mean a groupie… I don’t promote any Kat Stacks-ing type behavior or anything of that nature… but a true homegirl that smooths everything out. Junior M.A.F.I.A had Kim (even though she did have a thing w/ Biggie)…Terror Squad had Remy… Hell, the Funky Four Plus One even had Sha Rock (if you don’t know about that… Stop reading now && research Hip-Hop Royalty). Now these women did rhyme, but sometimes you don’t have to. Some women just run the “behind the scenes” things and keep the balance that way.
As a lady, I can say that my best partnerships have come from those where I have been the only girl. It’s something strangely empowering about being the only girl in a group. Yes, the normal bullshit does occur… There have been times when someone has tried to “try” me. But, being the lady that I am, I address it and keep it moving. I believe that any platonic friendship(s) between those of the opposite sex are beneficial. Ideas and differences of opinion are bound to happen but that’s what makes things so much better. I can honestly say that working for ThaDoubleO.com has shown me that. Yes, I am the only female in this camp. At times, I do slightly wish there was another female around but I’m happy that there isn’t one. I love the men that I work with (Shoutout 2 Fego, J. Holly and Chris, when he’s around!). They make things so much easier for me and they respect me as well. I know that there are times where they may find a chick slightly annoying but we respect each other and great ideas are bounced around. I know they agree when I state that I bring something different to the table, lol.
I challenge you guys to do this: Incorporate a platonic female into your group, crew, whatever && see how much things get better. Ja Rule said it best “Every man needs a Down Ass Chick!”
